UMW Offshore wins offshore drilling services contract

UMW Oil & Gas Corp. Bhd (UMWOG) reports that UMW Offshore Drilling Sdn Bhd (formerly known as UMW Standard Drilling Sdn Bhd), a wholly owned subsidiary of UMW Malaysian Ventures Sdn Bhd, which, in turn, is a wholly owned subsidiary of UMWOG, has been awarded a contract by PTTEP International Ltd for the provision of drilling rig services for Block M3 Appraisal Drilling Campaign 2014 within the Gulf of Mottama, Myanmar.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – UMW Oil & Gas Corp. Bhd (UMWOG) reports that UMW Offshore Drilling Sdn Bhd (formerly known as UMW Standard Drilling Sdn Bhd), a wholly owned subsidiary of UMW Malaysian Ventures Sdn Bhd, which, in turn, is a wholly owned subsidiary of UMWOG, has been awarded a contract by PTTEP International Ltd for the provision of drilling rig services for Block M3 Appraisal Drilling Campaign 2014 within the Gulf of Mottama, Myanmar.

The contract, worth $51.3 million, is for five firm wells and may be extended for one optional well thereafter.

The UMWOG Group will assign its newest rig, UMW NAGA 5, for this contract. UMW NAGA 5 is currently in the Philippines, serving a drilling contract with NIDO Petroleum Philippines Pty Ltd for drilling operations offshore Philippines, which should be completed in July.
