BERGEN, Norway – Maersk Drilling has contracted Deep Sea Mooring (DSM) to engineer and install a mooring system for the GustoMSC DSS21-design semisubmersible Maersk Discoverer for use offshore Egypt.
DSM will design themooring spread, define operational procedures, mobilize and demobilize all equipment in Norway and Egypt, pre-install the anchors prior to the rig’s arrival, and hook up the rig on location. The company will also supply all base operations and personnel for the mooring and hook-up task.
“This is a complex assignment,” said DCM CEO Åge Straume, “with water depths of 930 m [3,051 ft] entailing high loads and a need to design a robust, high-quality and streamlined mooring solution.”
