SINGAPORE – Baku Shipyard LLC has contracted Keppel Singmarine for fabrication and outfitting works for a new subsea construction vessel (SCV).
This will be deployed for theStage 2 development of the Shah Deniz field, 70 km (43 mi) offshore in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.
TheBP-ordered vessel is Baku Shipyard’s first project since its inauguration last September. The Baku-based facility was developed jointly by Keppel O&M, SOCAR, and Azerbaijan Investment Co. Keppel O&M is responsible for management and operation of the yard.
Keppel Singmarine’s scope includes design of the vessel, fabrication of the hull strips, and outfitting these with equipment and systems at its yard in Singapore. It will ship the hull strips to Baku Shipyard for integration with other components fabricated by Baku Shipyard.
The SCV will be built to Marine Technology Development’s proprietary design (this is the ship design and development arm of Keppel O&M).
It will support construction of subsea structures that will form the biggestsubsea production system in the Caspian. The vessel is designed to work in 2.5 m (8.2 ft) significant wave height (Hs), and will be equipped with a dynamic positioning system, a 750-metric ton (827-ton) heave compensated crane for 600 m (1,968 ft) water depth subsea operations, an 18-men two-bell diving system, and two work-class ROVs.
