TRONDHEIM, Norway – Around 100 MW of power will be supplied from the Norwegian mainland to the Johan Sverdrup riser platform in the North Sea, according to partner Det norske oljeselskap.
Future development phases will also be supplied with power from shore, along with three other fields under development in the Utsira High region (Ivar Aasen, Gina Krog, and Edvard Grieg).
Norway’s parliament (Stortinget) has decided that full electrification of theUtsira High must be implemented no later than 2022.
Johan Sverdrup Phase 1 development planning continues largely according to plan, Det Norske adds. Front-end engineering and design (FEED) should be completed by November.
Aker Solutions is the main FEED contractor for the platform facilities. The partners have awarded numerous other FEED contracts for subsea facilities, pipelines, and power from shore.
