READING, UK – BG Group has agreed to take a 30% stake in an exploration block offshore Aruba, subject to approval from state-owned Compania Arubano di Petroleo.
The 14,356-sq km (5,543-sq mi) concession is in water depths of 400-1,800 m (1,312-5,905 ft), with identified prospects. A production-sharing agreement is in place and a 3D seismic survey is expected to be completed later this year.
Elsewhere in theCaribbean, BG Group has farmed into 35% of the Trinidad and Tobago deepwater Atlantic area blocks 5 and 6.
In thepresalt Santos basin off Brazil, the company is a partner in the Sapinhoá North project. Operator Petrobras expects the FPSO to move onto location and deliver first oil during the current quarter.
AtIracema South, pre-installation has started of the mooring lines and first oil is expected to flow in 4Q. FPSO 6 (Iracema North) is also on budget, and two-thirds complete, and is expected to come onstream during 4Q 2015.
An installation license has been awarded for the shallow-water scope of the Cabiúnas gas pipeline, BG adds, following receipt of the deepwater license earlier this year.
Both the shallow anddeepwater pipelay vessels for the project have been mobilized in Brazil, and the Cabiúnas pipeline should be installed in 2015, connecting to an onshore gas processing plant that is expected to become operational later in the year.
This month the FPSOPetrojarl Knarr left its shipyard in South Korea to sail to its permanent location in the Norwegian North Sea. The company expects the voyage to take around three months.
First production is targeted for 4Q, although this depends on the receipt of Norwegian regulatory approvals, and on favorable weather conditions both for the current journey and during subsequent mooring and well connections at the field. If all activities are not completed as planned, the next installation window will likely be in 2Q 2015.
OffshoreTanzania, a rig is performing a drillstem test on the Mzia-3 gas well in the BG-operated deepwater block 1. On completion of this program the rig will transfer to block 4 to drill the Kamba-1 well, targeting a Cretaceous prospect, followed by another appraisal of other Tertiary discoveries in the block.
