SLIEDRECHT, the Netherlands – DBR is supplying emergency/harbor diesel generator sets for six new pipelay vesselsIHC Merwede is building for Subsea 7 and SapuraKencana.
The order for the 1,875 kVA sets follows DBR’s delivery of three similar generator sets last year to the same shipyard.
DBR managing director Herwin Roodenburg said: “These are custom built units, completely engineered to client specifications and for operating safely and reliably inBrazilian waters.”
Each will incorporate Mitsubishi diesel engines and either 800 kVA Leroy Somer or 1,875 kVA AvK generators. The delivery includes cooler and control panels, and the units will be able to operate in temperatures of up to 50ºC (122ºF).
First of the six new generator sets, engineered to Lloyd’s Register and IMO-2 specifications, was delivered earlier in 2014. The others will follow later this year and in 2015.
