DUBAI, UAE – Polarcus’ upgraded seismic acquisition vesselPolarcus Naila has started work on the UK Breagh RightBand multi-client project in the UK southern North Sea.
The one-month survey is designed to enhance imaging of the CarboniferousBreagh field in block 42/13 and to improve understanding of prospectivity in adjacent open blocks opened under the UK’s 28th license round.
The 55-day upgrade involved conversion of the vessel’s propulsion system at Shipdock Amsterdam to accommodate twin-fin shaft and propeller technology, along with various class enhancements and a mandatory vessel classification.
As a result the vessel can now tow ultra-wide 12-streamer spreads, matching the capability of the four “A-class” vessels in the Polarcus fleet.
Following the Breagh campaign it will mobilize for a charter toTGS-NOPEC Geophysical.
