READING, UK – BG Group has provided an update on its offshore activity in its latest results statement.
In theSantos basin offshore Brazil, operator Petrobras expects to install FPSO 4 (Sapinhoá North) during 3Q 2014 and FPSO 5 (Iracema South) by the end of the year.
Both vessels are in Brazil for completion of their topsides facilities, which include hydrocarbon processing capabilities. Both are currently around 90% complete.
FPSO 6 (Iracema North), due to enter service in 4Q 2015, is 60% complete.
In March, the partners received the installation license for the deepwater scope of the Cabiúnas gas pipeline, and expect to receive the shallow water license soon. The pipeline will be the next major phase of gas export infrastructure.
The Iara ADR-1 appraisal well is undergoing drillstem testing. BG Group and its partners expect to start an extended-well test on Iara-4 in June ahead of a declaration of commerciality by the end of 2014.
Offshore Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea, the Burullus-operatedWDDM Phase 9a subsea facilities are on track to start production this summer. At peak, however, the extra output will only temporarily offset reservoir decline. Further expansion will depend on negotiations with Egypt’s government and an improvement in the climate for investors, BG adds.
The company’s Notus high-pressure/high-temperature discovery well proved gas in all targeted zones. BG is assessing the results ahead of discussions with the government regarding possible development plans.
Offshore Tanzania, the company and its partners in offshore blocks 1, 3, and 4 and the Statoil/ExxonMobil consortium in block 2 have signed a heads of agreement. This establishes how the companies will collaborate to develop a potential joint LNG project onshore Tanzania with feed gas coming from the numerous deepwater discoveries.
BG Group will be the lead developer during the pre-front end engineering design phase, with joint project offices set up in Dar es Salaam and London.
Offshore Thailand, the Bongkot South Phase 4b project delivered first gas in February. Development involved installation and hook-up of four wellhead platforms, with gas exported via an offshore spur line connecting to existing infrastructure. Condensate is sent to the floating, storage, and offloading vessel at Bongkot North.
