CALGARY, Canada – Talisman’s production in Malaysia climbed to an average of 40,000 boe/d during 1Q 2014. This was due to stronger demand at the PM-3 CAA offshore facility, and increased uptime/additional output from two new infill wells at Kinabalu.
The company’s multi-well program at PM-3 has brought encouraging results from the NBO-3 appraisal well. A second appraisal well should spud before mid-year, designed to further confirm the reservoir size.
Offshore Vietnam, Talisman’s production was also up compared to 1Q 2013, following the startup of the offshore HST/HSD production complex. Reservoir performance to date has been strong.
In the offshore Nam Con Son basin, the company has selected two well locations on the Red Emperor extension in blocks 135 and 136, adjacent to the Ca Rong Do discovery. Drilling should start this summer.
Talisman’s UK offshore production averaged 18,000 boe/d during 1Q, up 29% from 4Q 2013. This was largely due to increased uptime at the Piper and Tweedsmuir facilities and the resumption of production from the Claymore platform.
In Norway, its production rose to 17,000 boe/d, manly due to the Varg gas export project coming onstream in early February.
