MOSCOW – Rosneft and ExxonMobil have decided to extend their strategic agreement on implementation of the (Russian) Far East LNG project. The duo plan to start related engineering surveys on land and at sea this summer.
To date they have completed conceptual design development and characteristics definition, and have reached agreement on the gas liquefaction technology and location of potential sites for the LNG plant facilities.
The plant will have an initial design capacity of around 5 million tons/yr of LNG, with gas drawn from Rosneft reserves in the Far East and from the partners’offshore Sakhalin-1 fields.
They are targeting 2018-2019 for construction and commissioning of theLNG plant, loading line, and offshore facilities.
Additionally they have signed an agreement concerning rendering of services by the Sakhalin-1 consortium. This takes in drilling, production, preparation, transportation, storage, and shipping of hydrocarbons produced at the north-end of the offshore Chayvo field.
