LONDON – Ceona’s new pipelay/heavy subsea construction vessel Ceona Amazon has successfully floated at the Crist yard in Poland.
It is under tow to the Lloyd Werft yard in Bremerhaven, Germany, for additional outfitting. All engines, thrusters, winches, and other major equipment below the underdeck are in place.
The 199-m (653-ft) long vessel can store 5,000 tons of flexible or 8,500 tons of rigid pipe on and below its 4,600-sq m (49,514-sq ft) deck. Other features include twin 400-ton AHC Masthead cranes working in tandem lift mode, and on-vessel pipeline fabrication (welding, NDT, and FJC).
After the work in Germany, the vessel will sail west toHuisman’s yard in Schiedam, the Netherlands, for installation of a 570-ton pipelay tower and 400-ton cranes. It is expected to enter service in early 2015.
