Atwood Oceanics secures contracts for Atwood Orca and Atwood Falcon

Atwood Oceanics Inc. has provided updates on recent contracts for the jackup Atwood Orca and the semisubmersible rig Atwood Falcon.

HOUSTONAtwood Oceanics Inc. (NYSE: ATW) has provided updates on recent contracts for the jackup Atwood Orca and the semisubmersible rig Atwood Falcon.

One of the company’s subsidiaries has been awarded a nine-month contract extension byMubadala Petroleum for the Atwood Orca. The extension is priced at a day rate of $165,000 in Thailand.

The company also announced that one of its subsidiaries has been awarded a drilling services contract byBHP Billiton Petroleum Pty. Ltd. for the Atwood Falcon. This contract is for a term of 330 days, and the work will be performed offshore Australia at a day rate of $430,000 in direct continuation with the rig's contracted drilling programs. As part of this contract, BHP Billiton retains the right to further extend the contract for two option periods of 120 days each at the same day rate. Contract commencement is expected to occur in direct continuation of presentoperations.
