Siemens nets South Stream controls order

South Stream Transport has contracted Siemens to supply electrical systems and control and instrumentation for the offshore section of the South Stream gas pipeline in the Black Sea.

ZURICH, Switzerland – South Stream Transport has contracted Siemens to supply electrical systems and control and instrumentation for the offshore section of the South Stream gas pipeline in the Black Sea.

Siemens will provide telecommunication equipment and automatic process control systems for the Russian and Bulgarian landfalls, and equipment for the central and backup control rooms.

South Stream’s offshore section will consist of four parallel 930-km (578-mi) lines across the southern Black Sea, each transporting up to 40 MMcm/d (1 bcf/d) of gas. All gas flows will be monitored constantly from South Stream Transport’s central control room.
