Murphy, OMV take charge of blocks offshore Namibia

Murphy Oil and OMV have agreed to farm into 65% of two exploration blocks offshore Namibia from current operator Cowan Petroleum.

VIENNA, Austria – Murphy Oil and OMV have agreed to farm into 65% of two exploration blocks offshore Namibia from current operator Cowan Petroleum.
Blocks 2613A and 2613B are in the 11,000-sq km (4,247-sq mi) PEL 046 permit.
Murphy Luderitz Oil will operate with 40% with OMV assigned 25%. Brazilian company Cowan will retain 20%, with the remaining 15% held by Namibia’s national oil company NAMCOR.
The partners plan an extensive3D seismic campaign starting in the current quarter.
