OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved the use of the semisubmersible Island Innovator for Lundin Norway’s upcoming drilling program in the Barents Sea.
The rig will provide drilling and production testing of wildcat well 7120/1-4 S in license PL492 on theGohta field. The location is 35 km (22 mi) northwest of the Snøhvit field in a water depth of 332 m (1,089 ft).
Drilling is expected to start in May and last around 65 days.
Earlier the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate authorized the semisubTransocean Barents to drill for OMV in the Barents Sea.
The rig will drill well 7324/7-2, OMV’s third wildcat in production license 537. This covers blocks 7324/7 and 7324/8.
In the Norwegian Sea, the semisubBredford Dolphin has started drilling well 6608/10-16 on the Verdande prospect in license PL484 for Noreco.
The main target is in Jurassic sandstones. Drilling could last up to 81 days.
