TEHRAN, Iran – Hassan Rouhani, president of Iran, expects to sign oil and gas cooperation agreements during his current visit to Oman, according to news service Shana. Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh is accompanying Rouhani.
TheHangam oil field, discovered in 1975, 45 km (28 mi) from Qeshm Island, straddles the offshore median line between the two countries.
Hangam has estimated in-place oil of more than 700 MMbbl and around 2 tcf (57 bcm) of gas.
Last year, Iran signed a 25-year, $60-billion agreement for gas exports toOman, and Iran and India have agreed to start constructing a deepwater pipeline crossing Oman to take gas from Iran to India, Shana adds.
