BAKU, Azerbaijan – BP says the Shah Deniz and South Caucasus Pipeline consortia has awarded more contracts for the Shah Deniz Stage 2 development in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea and the related and South Caucasus pipeline expansion (SCPX) project.
Wood Group Kenny won the $57-million contract for the initial phase of thesubsea and pipeline engineering and project management.
Apply Emtunga won the $32-million contract for engineering, procurement, and construction of the offshore platform living quarters, which is expected to be completed in 2017. Assembly and commissioning will be performed at the ATA fabrication yard in Bibi-Heybat near Baku.
DrillTec secured the $26-million contract for horizontal directional drilling and line pipe installation for five river crossings of the SCPX project. This program is expected to be completed in 2016.
CSM Bessac won the $24-million contract for shaft and tunnel construction and line pipe installation for the two SCPX river crossings, one in Azerbaijan and one in Georgia, and is expected to finish the work in 2017.
Offshore, theIstiglal rig has completed drilling the fifth production well in the northern part of the field. The Heydar Aliyev rig has undergone an upgrade and recertification program and has returned to drilling activities in the western part of the field.
Both rigs will remain working onShah Deniz to deliver all the wells needed to reach the planned plateau level of 16 bcm/yr (565 bcf/yr) of gas.
First consignments of steel for fabrication of the platform jackets arrived in Baku in December, and late last month first steel for fabrication of the decks arrived at the ATA yard.
TheAMEC-Tekfen-Azfen (ATA) consortium has the $974-million contract for fabrication, load out, and offshore hookup and commissioning of the Stage 2 platform topsides.
