Offshore staff
NORTH MARSTON, UK – Litre Meter has dispatched 12 LF05 VFF positive displacement flow meters to Kempe Australia for chemical injection applications offshore New Zealand.
The rotary piston flow meters will measure the flow of chemicals including corrosion inhibitor, demulsifier, and scale inhibitor.
Five skids, each with dedicated flow meters, are under construction forOMV New Zealand’s Maari Growth Project in the Taranaki basin.
The chemicals will be injected at high pressure into pipelines via the skids, which will be installed on unmanned wellhead platforms. Chemicals will be delivered to the skids through umbilicals from the field’s FPSO.
Chemicals will be distributed to up to 12 wells/injection points via SkoFlo pressure-independent control valves.
Measurement of the chemical injection rate is critical, Litre Meter says, because blockages caused by a build-up of scale or emulsified sludge can lead to a shutdown, the risk of explosion, or an accidental hydrocarbons discharge.
Blocked pipes may then have to be uplifted to remove the blockage.
