RAISIO, Finland – Malaysian group Bumi Armada has contracted Deltamarin to provide basic design for EnQuest’s Kraken FPSO in the UK northern North Sea.

EnQuest and its partnerscommissioned the newbuild floater last November. Earlier, Deltamarin had provided Bumi Armada with technical support for the conversion of an existing oil tanker into an FPSO in the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase.

That program included development of an FPSO design to withstand the harshNorth Sea environment that fulfils UK rules and regulations.

Deltamarin’s present workscope covers naval architecture, structural and strength analysis, steel outfitting, marine/utility and HVAC, accommodation, HSE, and electrical/instrumentation systems.

The turret-moored FPSO, measuring 285.41 m (936 ft) long and 50 m (164 ft) broad, will have a 600,000-bbl storage capacity.
