CALGARY, Canada --RWE Dea has restarted gas production from the Breagh field in the UK southern North Sea, according to partner Sterling Resources (TSX-V: SLG).
An incident on Nov. 7 forced operations to be shut down. An ongoing investigation (due to be completed by the end of January) recommended replacement of the barred tee-junction and various other repairs to the inlet to the gas plant.
Initial production rates will vary as plant commissioning activities continue, and a two-day shutdown is planned during the coming week to allow the jackup Ensco 70drilling rig to move off location and head to a shipyard to prepare for routine marine certification requirements.
Breagh development well A07 has been drilled to total depth having encountered reservoir sands in accordance with prognosis. The well has been suspended with the completion tubing run and the christmas tree set.
Ensco 70 should return in early spring to bring the well into production using hydraulic stimulation, and will then wrap up the Phase 1 program by drilling the A08 production well.
The hydraulic stimulation should also providing information for Breagh Phase 2 investment planning.
