Inchcape to provide logistics services for deepwater pipeline project offshore Tanzania

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has won an offshore logistics services contract in Tanzania from China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPPB) and Anglo Eastern Ship Management.

CHAFFORD HUNDRED, UK – Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has won an offshore logistics services contract in Tanzania from China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau (CPPB) and Anglo Eastern Ship Management.

This involves supporting construction of a $3.2-billion deepwater gas pipeline linking theMnazi Bay gas field to the country’s largest city, Dar es Salaam.

The532-km (330-mi) pipeline will run from Mnazi Bay, Mtwara, and Songo Songo in Kilwa District to Dar es Salaam.  It will supply gas to power stations generating 3,900 MW of electricity, as well as connecting commercial and domestic users in several towns.

ISS’ responsibilities include the agency and husbandry of specialized vessels, including a custom-built pipelaying craft with a 1,600-ton crane and accommodation for 230 construction workers. The company’s Crew Logistics Services division will handle crew visa and work permit applications and airport transfers to the vessels.
