STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lundin Norway has completed its latest appraisal well on Johan Sverdrup field in the Norwegian North Sea.
Well 16/2-16AT2 was drilled in license PL501 as a side track towell 16/2-16 on the field’s northeastern flank, about 1,000 m (3,281 ft) west of the main bore hole.
The aim was to improve understanding of lateral variations in reservoir qualities and the connection tooil/water contacts in neighboring wells.
The side track, drilled by the semisubmersibleTransocean Winner in 116 m (380 ft) of water, encountered a 30-m (98-ft) gross oil column within the Jurassic reservoir sequence. Analysis of the data confirmed an oil/water contact at the same level as in well 16/2-10, the deepest observed on the field.
Transocean Winner will next drill the 16/1-17 wildcat on the Jorvik prospect for Lundin on PL338.
