HOUSTON– A Harvest Natural Resources-operated wildcat well in the Dussafu license offshore Gabon has discovered oil in presalt reservoirs.
At a vertical depth of 11,260 ft (3,432 m), the Dussafu Tortue Marin-1 well encountered 42 ft (12.8 m) of pay in a 72 ft (22 m) oil column within the Gamba formation and 123 ft (37.5 m) of pay in stacked reservoirs within the Dentale formation, the company reported.
TheSaipem Scaraebo 3 semisub drilled the well, which is in 380 ft (116 m) of water. Harvest operates the Dussafu license with 66.667% interest.
The Houston-based independent said it will conduct additional tests and drill a side track to appraise the discovery, “with a provision for flow testing one or more of the subject pay intervals.”
Harvesthit pay in 2011 when the Dussafu Ruche Marin-1 well found oil in the in the presalt Gamba and Dentale formations.
