LONDON – Ceona’s new flexible/umbilical pipelay and subsea construction vessel Polar Onyx has floated out of dry dock at Ulstein Verft yard in Norway.
The vessel underwent an intensive outfitting program. It has now moved to the shipyard quay for completion of interior works.
GC Rieber Shipping has charteredPolar Onyx for five years, with the option for up to five more.
The DP-3 vessel is equipped has a 250-ton AHC offshore crane. It will be able to install subsea pipes in water depths of up to 3,000 m (9,842 ft). In March, it will also be outfitted with a 270-ton vertical lay stem built by Huisman in Schiedam, the Netherlands.
It should be delivered for service the following month.
