STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil has started production from the fasttrack Visund North oil and gas field development in the Norwegian North Sea.

The field was developed using a standard, four-well subsea template. Oil is transported through a new pipeline to the Visund A platform for processing via a pipeline manifold and a new subsea safety integrity valve beneath the platform.

Early this year Statoil proved further resources in the northern Visund area with the Rhea discovery, was drilled as an exploration pilot from one of the Visund North wells.

The seven remaining developments in the company’s fasttrack portfolio are Vilje South, Fram H-North, Svalin C, Gullfaks South oil, Oseberg Delta 2, and Gullfaks Rimfaksdalen.
When all are onstream, they should collectively deliver 200,000 boe/d by end-2014.
