STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has completed the airlift of 97 personnel from the Njord A semisubmersible platform in the Norwegian Sea. All are now ashore.

De-manning is a precautionary measure related to weather restrictions.

Njord A’s production was suspended this summer, with all production systems shut down and emptied of oil and gas. Onboard staff is mainly handling maintenance and preparations for planned structural reinforcement work.

“This gives us time to assess the weather situation ahead and will allow specialists to carry out checks of the platform’s integrity and security systems before we restore the manning of the platform to normal levels,” said Arve Rennemo, production director at Njord A.
