Iran, Oman consider subsea gas pipeline

Oman could receive gas supplies from Iran via a new subsea pipeline, according to Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.

TEHRAN, Iran – Oman could receive gas supplies from Iran via a new subsea pipeline, according to Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.

In a speech on Iranian state television, he said the two countries have discussed five options for gas transmission, and hope to finalize a deal within five months.

He added that an Iranian company had been chosen to draft tender documents for theoffshore pipeline.

Iran gas supplies will be short of 40 bcm (1.4 tcf) of this year, Zanganeh continued, blaming delays in the operation of different development phases of theSouth Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf.
