Talisman books Maersk jackup for offshore Norway campaign

Talisman Energy Norge has contracted the harsh-environment jackup Mærsk Giant to work for a year offshore Norway.

COPENHAGEN, Norway – Talisman Energy Norge has contracted the harsh-environment jackup Mærsk Giant to work for a year offshore Norway. Drilling is expected to start next summer.
The contract is valued at $137 million and includes extension options up to a total of three years. It “underlines commitment to our production hubs in Norway, predominately in the Gyda, Varg, and Yme areas,” said John Vemmestad, managing director of Talisman Energy Norge.
Maersk Drilling has ordered three newbuild XL Enhanced (CJ-70) harsh-environmentjackups. All three will enter the Norwegian market in 2014 and 2015 on long-term contracts.
