ABERDEEN, UK – The semisubmersible Songa Trym has spudded the Statoil-operated Snilehorn exploration well (6407/8-6) in the Norwegian Sea.

According to partnerFaroe Petroleum, the prospect is 4 km (2.4 mi) from the producing Hyme oil field, a tieback to the Njord complex.

The well and a planned side track target oil and gas in the Jurassic Ile, Tilje, and Ă…re formations, analogous to the Hyme reservoir. A success could lead to a fasttrack development similar to the Hyme project.

Water depth is 282 m (925 ft) and the planned drilling TD is around 3,205 m (10,515 ft).
