Offshore staff
RICHMOND, UK – Reef Subsea Dredging and Excavation has won two subsea excavation contracts in the Middle East.
One team from the company’s UK division will work on a shore approach cable excavation for theAl Khafji field offshore Saudi Arabia, on behalf of Technip and Khafji Joint Operations.
Reef Subsea personnel will also be deployed for the post-lay burial of the 165-mm (6.5-in.) composite cable.
The other contract involves working with Leighton Offshore for theIraqi Crude Oil Export Expansion program (ICOEEP), and calls for post-lay burial of a fiber-optic cable more than 50 km (31 mi) long serving Iraq’s largest producing oil field.
Reef Subsea will use its controlled flow excavation tools T4000 and Twin R2000 on both projects. Both tools are designed to work on live cables and pipelines without compromising the subsea assets’ integrity, the company says.
