NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, UK – UTEC Geomarine has completed a geotechnical survey for BP’s Quad 204 redevelopment project west of Shetland.
This involved use of the ROV-deployed geoROV CPT and sampling system. Subsea 7 provided vessel and ROV support services.
It was the first use of geoROV with UTEC Geomarine’s recently developed geoREACT suction anchor tooling skid. Multiple CPTs, cyclic T-bars, and undisturbed sampling tests were conducted at pre-set locations, backed by laboratory analyses, to assist flowline andsubsea structure design.
High-quality seabed geotechnical data was gathered from locations that would have been inaccessible to other conveyed geotechnical devices, the contractor says.
