ABERDEEN, UK – Subsea construction specialist Ceona has awarded ROVOP a five-year contract for hydraulic, work-class ROV services.
These will be deployed on Ceona’s fleet of newdeepwater pipelay and construction vessels including the Ceona Amazon and the Polar Onyx.
ROVOP’s systems are manufactured by FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics. The company says the HD ROVs are the most technologically advanced available, featuring a modular design for improved repair and maintenance times, and various other functions that improve safety and efficiency.
Ceona’sPolar Onyx and Amazon vessels are due into service in March 2014 and January 2015, respectively.
Polar Onyx is a 130-m (426-ft) long DP-3 vessel with a 25-m (82-ft) beam, designed for operations in harsh conditions and deepwaters, and is equipped with a 250-ton AHC offshore crane for subsea installations and IRM duties.
It has capacity for flexible pipe loads below deck and on main deck. Its 275-ton vertical lay system above a moonpool can install flexible pipe and umbilicals to 3,000 m (9,842 ft) water depth.
Ceona Amazon, based on a drillship design, is a multi-purpose DP-2 pipelay and construction vessel. It can lay rigid and flexible pipelines and umbilicals, and install large subsea structures using one or both of its two compensated masthead cranes in tandem-lift mode to 3,000 m water depth.
The vessel does not require a spool base to support its operations.
