LONDON – Salamander Energy (LSE:SMDR) has submitted an environmental impact assessment for 20 drilling locations in the G4/50 license in the Gulf of Thailand.
The company expected approval shortly from Thai authorities.
The planned exploration drilling program targets the block’s central and southern areas. Here the defined prospects are thought to provide easy access to the oil kitchen that serves the producingBualuang accumulation.
Early candidates for drilling include the Bualuang lookalike structure Hua Hin and Yala, the first of the abutment play prospects to be drilled in the area.
Prospects targeted over the remainder of the campaign will depend partly on results of the early wells in the sequence.
