ConocoPhillips joins Cairn to explore offshore Senegal

Cairn Energy (LON:CNE) has a farm-down agreement with ConocoPhillips for three blocks offshore Senegal.

EDINBURGH, UK –Cairn Energy (LON:CNE) has a farm-down agreement with ConocoPhillips for three blocks offshore Senegal.
Subject to government approval, ConocoPhillips will acquire 25% working interest in the contiguous Rufisque, Sangomar, and Sangomar Deep blocks.
A two-well exploration drilling program is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2014 using Transocean’sCajun Expresssemisubmersible drilling rig. The program will be based on 2,050 sq km (791 sq mi) of 3D seismic.
Cairn will hold 40%and be operator during exploration. Petrosen holds 10% interest in the exploration phase. ConocoPhillips has the option to become operator in the event of future development.
