BANGKOK, Thailand – PTTEP International Ltd. (PTTEPI) has discovered gas with four appraisal wells in block-M3 in the Gulf of Moattama offshore Myanmar.
Flow tests of the Aung Sinkha-3, Aung Sinkha-4, Aung Sinkha-5 and Aung Sinkha-6 wells delivered combined rates of 34.5 MMcf/d (976,931 cm/d), with more than 195 b/d of associated condensate in two of the wells.
However, no gas flowed during the Aung Sinkha-4 test despite a discovery in the reservoir. This was the first well of the campaign and equipment for acidizing limestone reservoirs could not be prepared in time.
PTTEPI plans further appraisal drilling next year with a view to a potential development of the Aung Sinkha field. Currently the company is seeking approval from Myanmar’s government tofarm out a 20% interest in the block to Mitsui Oil Exploration.
