RIO DE JANEIRO –Petrobras (NYSE:PBR) has completed presalt formation tests at well 3-RJS-706 (3-BRSA-1132-RJS) in block BM-S-11 offshore Brazil in the Santos basin.
The carbonate reservoirs, which start at a depth of 5,260 m (17,253 ft), show excellent porosity and permeability, with 28º API oil.
The well is 226 km (140 mi) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, 6 km (3.7 mi) west of the discovery well inthe Iara area, at a water depth of 2,197 m (7,206 ft).
Petrobras is the operator of the consortium (65%) in partnership withBG E&P Brasil (25%) and Petrogal Brasil (10%).
