STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisub Transocean Arctic has spudded Lundin Norway’s latest exploration well in the Barents Sea.
Well 7120/1-3 in license PL492 targets the Gohta prospect, 150 km (93 mi) northwest of the northern Norwegian mainland and 65 km (40 mi) south of Statoil’sJohan Castberg oil discoveries.
The main objective is to prove hydrocarbons in Permian and Triassic reservoirs. Lundin estimates prospective resources of 108 MMboe in the Gohta Snadd prospect and 118 MMboe in the Gohta Karst prospect.
Planned TD is 2,429 m (7,969 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling is estimated to require around 65 days.
