PAROW, South Africa – PetroSA says the next phase of a subsea installation campaign is about to get under way on the F-O field offshore South Africa.
In March, the company secured the services of theDSV Iremis da Vinci for Phase 2 of the Project Ikhwezi campaign. A month before, the offshore construction vessel OCV Normand Installer completed Phase 1.
Iremis Da Vinci is a diving support and ROV support vessel, with an 18-man saturation diving system. The diving system is rated to 300 m (984 ft) water depth and includes twin three-man diving bells with port and starboard orientation, and two 18-man self-propelled hyperbaric lifeboats. The vessel also features a separate forecastle deck with dedicated control room below the shelter deck for ROV deployment and operation.
The vessel mobilized for Project Ikhwezi in Cape Town harbor in late March, before sailing to the F-O field to perform a survey spread calibration/site survey of the five subsea structure locations – NTIF, STIF, NMS, SMS, and SSIV– and to mark the positions of each structure (except STIF and SMS) using sandbags and relocate flexible flowlines from the NMS target box.
After successfully completing her first trip,DSV Iremis Da Vinci returned to port in April to prepare for its second trip.
