OSLO, Norway – Wintershall Norge has a minor gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic drilled well 6406/6-3 in 243 m (797 ft) of water on license PL511. The location is 25 km (15.5 mi) south of the Statoil-operated Tyrihans field and 15 km (9.3 mi) northeast of Norske Shell’s 6406/9-1 Linnorm discovery.
The well intersected a 14-m (46-ft) gas column in the Mid-Jurassic Garn formation, with reserves thought to be in the 0.55-0.62 bcm (19.4-21.0 bcf) recoverable range.
