CALGARY, Canada – The heavy duty jackup Ensco 100 has started development drilling on the Stella field in the UK central North Sea.

Four production wells will be drilled and completed prior to start-up, comprising three horizontal wells into the field’s oil rim, and one deviated gas-condensate well on the crest of the structure.

Transocean subsidiary Advanced Drilling Technology International is managing the drilling and completion operations under turnkey contracts.

According to operator Ithaca Energy, each well is expected to take 80-90 days to drill and complete, and all should be clean-up tested, within the capacity limits of the flow test equipment deployed on the rig.
