Offshore staff
PARIS – Anadarko and partner Ecopetrol have contracted CGG to acquire and process a 5,500-sq km (2,123-sq mi) 3D seismic survey offshore northern Colombia.
CGG Viking will perform the survey, the largest offshore Colombia to date. The survey will cover parts of the Col 5; Ura 4, Fuerte Norte, Fuerte Sur, and Purple Angel blocks in the Caribbean Sea.
The vessel will tow a 10 x 100 x 7,050-m (23,130-ft) spread in a BroadSeis configuration using steerable Sercel Sentinel solid streamers and CGG’s Dovetail acquisition system, designed to achieve more regular sampling and to reduce infill.
Work will start in 3Q 2013 and is expected to last about four months. CGG’s center in Houston will process the resultant data.
BroadSeis’ bandwidth is designed to enhance imaging in geologically challenging areas – those in the current survey are characterized by heavy faulting and strong multiple mask. CGG says the technique should provide improved resolution of shallow targets and better penetration for imaging of deeper objectives.
