LIMASSOL, Cyprus – Songa Offshore says the drilling rig Songa Mercur has restarted operations on a well for Zarubezhneft offshore Cuba.
Drilling had to be suspended when a BOP was pulled to inspect the connector bolts and to investigate a shear ram malfunction, found to be well induced.
Work on the current well is expected to be completed by June 1, after which the rig will transfer to a new assignment off Vietnam.
Songa Venushas completed ahead of schedule a planned inspection and re-certification of its well control system in Labuan, Malaysia. Currently the rig is mobilizing to Vietnam for a program of work for Mubadala Petroleum.
