LONDON – EnQuest’s Alma/Galia development project in the UK North Sea is on track for first oil this fall.
Following batch drilling of six wells last year, the manifold and subsea christmas tree systems were installed this spring, and work is under way on the umbilical and riser installations. Fabrication of the mooring piles is complete.
In Hamburg, northern Germany, work continues on modifications to theFPSOEnQuest Producer. The vessel has left the dry dock and has moved to the quay. The process module and the electric power module have been lifted onto the vessel. The completed boiler is en route to Hamburg for installation. Work continues on the degasser and water injection modules.
By mid-yearEnQuest expects to submit a development plan for the heavy oil Kraken field in the UK northern North Sea. An appraisal well drilled recently on the north of the structure showed that the reservoir is oil filled and the thickness of the sand was as expected. PVT (fluid) samples are being analyzed.
As for fields already in production, at Thistle/Deveron performance has been impacted by the shutdown of the third-party Brent pipeline, and by water injection downtime caused by an outage of the old Thistle platform “B” turbine generator and commissioning of the new “D” turbine.
Water injection has been re-instated following commissioning of the new turbine and refurbishment of the B turbine is expected to be completed in June. Drilling is currently under way on the next production well in the Western Fault block.
At the Don fields, the West Don W6/W4 producer/injector pair performed well following tie-in of the new W6 injector well in 1Q. The Don Southwest Area 6 DS producer is expected to come online later in this quarter, with an associated water injector to be drilled later this year.
A new phase of drilling on the Heather field will start this summer following the completion of drilling on Thistle and commissioning of the refurbished rig on the Heather platform.
Finally, at the Chevron-operated Alba field (EnQuest, 8%), platform well A38z (S36) is drilling ahead. Two more platform wells and one subsea well are planned for later this year.
