HOUSTON – Noble Energy confirms its well on the Karish prospect offshore Israel has discovered gas.
Karish 1 was drilled in the Alon C license, 75 km (46.6 mi) northwest of the Haifa coast in 1,740 m (5,700 ft) of water, and 20 mi (32 km) northeast of therecently onstreamTamar field.
It was drilled to a TD of 15,783 ft (4,810 m) and encountered 184 ft (56 m) of net natural gas pay in good-quality lower Miocene sands. Noble estimates resources at Karish and those in an adjacent fault block on the license in the 1.6 to 2 tcf (45 to 57 bcm) range.
This was Noble’s fifth discovery in theoffshore Levantine basin with potential resources above 1 tcf (28 bcm). It lifts total discovered reserves by the company and its partners to around 38 tcf (1.1 tcm).
Co-owners of the Alon C license are Avner Oil and Delek Drilling.
