CALGARY, Canada – Husky Oil Operations has contracted Technip to manage the planned subsea tieback of the South White Rose field to the SeaRose FPSO offshore Newfoundland and Labrador.
South White Rose is an extension of the producingWhite Rose field in the Jeanne d’Arc basin, 350 km (217 mi) southeast of St. John’s. The company installed the White Rose subsea production system in 2005 – oil production from the field recently passed 200 MMbbl.
Technip has two contracts. The first, to be performed this year, includes supply and installation of gas injection flowlines, umbilicals, and subsea structures. Drilling of the first gas injection well is under way.
The second contract, due to take place next year, will cover the supply and installation of flowlines and subsea structures to support oil production and water injection. South White Rose is due to come onstream in 2014.
Technip’s operating center in St. John’s will handle management and engineering of both projects, with various materials and equipment sourced locally.
Front-end engineering design has also been completed for Husky’s West White Rose project and preparation is under way of a development application.
At theNorth Amethyst field in the same region, Husky says drilling has started on a fourth water injection well that is expected to enter service this summer. The company has additionally applied to develop the deeper Hibernia-level formation, and is awaiting the results of a regulatory review.
Husky is a participant in the current Harpoon exploration well at a location close to the Mizzen discovery in the Flemish Pass.
