LONDON – Repsol is expected to drill a well offshore Namibia by mid-2014, according to partner Tower Resources.
The multi-billion barrel Welwitschia-1 well will be drilled on the PEL0010 license in the Walvis basin, 200 km (124 mi) north of HRT’s recent sub-commercial Wingat discovery.
Welwitchia-1 well has multiple reservoir targets from the Palaeocene to the Aptian. It is close to Norsk Hydro’s 1911-15/1 well drilled in 1994, which recovered oil from core samples in the Albian.
