OSLO, Norway – DNO says drilling of the Saleh-8 well offshore Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, started last month. This is the first step of the company’s plan to re-develop the Saleh field, which it inherited under a transaction with previous operator RAK Petroleum.
The well is expected to take around 130 days to drill, stimulate, test, and complete. DNO aims to test the previously undeveloped Thamama reservoir with a view to complete the well as a producer via existing infrastructure. Produced volumes will be processed at RAK Gas’ onshore processing facility.
Following completion of Saleh-8, DNO will determine whether to drill an initial well on the nearby undeveloped RAK B oil field as a satellite tieback to the same infrastructure.
