LONDON– Trinity has provided an update on its operations offshore Trinidad and Tobago.
Since taking control from Bayfield of the Galeota license and the producing Trintes field in February, the UK independent has appointed a new asset manager and bolstered the operating team.
The company has implemented new operating policies and procedures to ensure that operations are conducted safely and efficiently, the it says.
Total oil production from Trintes is currently 1,760 b/d. Output had been impacted by a failure of the main power generator on the Alpha platform. Temporary/back-up generators have been commissioned, with new procedural controls to reduce the risk of a reoccurrence of such an incident.
To restore production from shut-in wells, the new team has accelerated procurement of new Schlumberger electric submersible pumps and other pumps which are currently being deployed. Four oil wells are now back in production and a further six wells should be back onstream by mid-year.
The remaining four shut-in wells, with production potential of 125 b/d, should be back online in October, or earlier if the opportunity arises to schedule the wells between the infill program.
Operations on this year’s first side track, on the B5-X well, were suspended in late February due to concerns over wellhead integrity. The latter is undergoing refurbishment before the rig re-enters the well and drills to total depth.
The rig has been used to work over various wells and is currently working on the B11 infill well.
Recently, Trinity executed a rig-sharing agreement with three other operators for theRowan Gorilla III jackup, which is currently operating in Trinidadian waters. The company will take one rig slot this summer, to drill its first exploration well on the Galeota license.
It is also investigating use of a smaller, mat-supported jackup for exploration drilling on both the east and west coasts of Trinidad, with a view to reduce drilling costs.
