Odfjell to manage Mariner platform drilling services

Statoil has contracted Odfjell Drilling for services on the new Mariner platform in the UK northern North Sea.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has contracted Odfjell Drilling for services on the new Mariner platform in the UK northern North Sea.
Odfjell will provide drilling services, maintenance of the drilling facility, and drill pipe logistics for theMariner field development. The scope could be extended to cover casing, tubing running services, and modifications to the drilling facility.
The $246-million contract runs for four years from November 2016, when drilling is slated to start on the Mariner heavy oil field. Odfjell will provide engineering and commissioning services to Statoil during the construction and start-up phase.
Statoil expects to start production from Mariner in 2017, with the field remaining in production for at least 30 years. Average production during the peak period of 2017-2020 is estimated to be 55,000 b/d.
Additionally, Odfjell has options for similar work for Statoil’s plannedBressay field development in the same region.
