SYDNEY, Australia – BC Petroleum (BCP) has issued an update on its latest well on the four-field Balai Cluster offshore eastern Malaysia.
West Acis-2, the fourth well in the pre-development drilling phase, was drilled to 2,307 m (7,569 ft) TVDSS. Early logging results suggest 20 m (65.6 ft) net hydrocarbon pay across three sandstone intervals.
The well intersected reservoirs 70 m (229 ft) downdip from West Acis-1ST and confirmed the western extent of hydrocarbons in the West Acis field.
According to BCP shareholder Roc Oil, West Acis-2 has been cased and completed in preparation for and extended well test, to be managed from the early production vessel Balai Mutiara. Currently the rig is preparing to locate to the Bentara field to drill the Bentara-3 well, 80 km (49.7 mi) northwest of West Acis.
TheBalai Cluster Risk Service Contracts takes in the Balai, Bentara, West Acis, and Spaoh fields. Pre-development drilling started last year and is expected to be completed mid-2013. Assuming shareholder agreement on the fields’ economic viability, BCP will submit a field development plan and work toward development of the fields.
Other shareholders are Dialog Group and Petronas Carigali.
